After watching it a few times, I was all excited about moving into the swamps, buy a jon boat, and do some gator hunting. I could probably even learn to talk like Troy or Willie, too. I made the suggestion to my sweet lil' wife, but she didn't seem to be as enthused about it as I was. Go figger.

Anybody walking around barefooted in that swamp has my hat off. Ain't no way ole Charlie will

take his shoes off and walk in the woods. Not matter how bad my feet smell. There is a lot of creatures in the grass that would just love to take a bite outta yer toe.

On a trip north one time, we were driving through South Dakota and my boy took his shoes off in the back seat. We pulled over at the next rest stop and threw the shoes and socks out in the trash, and washed his feet. He had to go barefoot til we could find a walmart.

i used to live in New Orleans back in the early eighties. Did some fishing in the swamps south of town. I will take trout fishing in the rocky mountains anytime over fishing in those swamps. Once we caught only 1 fish in an entire day. Then something tried to eat it while it was on a stringer hanging over the side of the boat. Tore it all to shreads. Was likly a small gator (about 5' acording to the guy we were fishing with) we saw swimming around earlier.

I grew up catching choupique in the marsh along with bass and catfish. You are right...they have lots of teeth and have more slime per square inch of hide than any other fish I've ever seen or heard of.

 

If you don't catch fish is the waters south of New Orleans you need to talk to some of the locals. I use to catch plenty of fish when I lived there....some of the best speckled trout fishing any place.

Der is a fish here called a Walleye. Lots of folks like'em . I don't. Taste like da oil der fryed in.

 

Dey fight like a bass and one day, fishin' wif da wife, she hooked a bass, and I hooked a Walleye.

 

I was telling wife how to land the bass, how to put yur thumb inside their mouths and such.

 

I was trying to show her when I looked down at my fish and I swear, it was smiling at me and I could almost hear it saying..........

 

"Got a mouth full of razor sharp teeth......go ahead.......make my day and put dat big thumb in my mouth ! "

Hunting season for alligator begins the first Wednesday in September and last for 30 days.

 

So what we are watching now is long since over with.

My dad and brother came to visit me when I lived in Alabama. One day they went fishing when I went to work. They went to West Point lake rented a boat and went bass fishing. When I got home, my brother told me dad was fishing and told him to 'throw into shore next to the 3 big logs'. Well, the logs started moving! On closer inspection they were gators, brother said one about the size of the 12 foot boat they were in. That ended the fishing trips that visit.
