Critter Problems - Possums!

Possums can be mean - heard of them whoopin a coon and coons can be real mean. But, I live in a suburban area and have caught several possums and coons in my attic and backyard. Get a live trap and bait using cut apples with peanut butter spread on them, cats wont be too interested in that.

 

Once you catch one - throw a blanket over the trap before picking it up - keeps them calm as they cant see you. Take them at least five miles away and turn them loose. No real reason to kill them at that point. I have never had one come back.

Raccoons will come right back to the garbage can they were eating out of but Opossums apparently don't have that homing ability.

They are extremely adaptable and like Coyotes, their populations are on the increase despite urban sprawl that runs many other wild animals off.

And they have more teeth than any North American mammal. 55 if I remember my Park Service training correctly.

And they don't actually Play Dead. They stress real easily and pass out.
