Shipping Blackpowder loaded ammo

Anyone know if there are any addl. regulations I need to be aware of

if I was to ship some loaded Real BlackPowder 12ga shotgun ammo?????????

Or is it handled exactly the same as smokeless??

Most likely I'd use UPS..............

The UPS site is USELESS on this

Ammo does go as HAZ-MAT(ground only)but is marked "ORM-D". Doesn't say you can't ship BP ammo

DON'T use a UPS store, go to a "hub".

Once loaded, BP is simply "ORM-D" like any other ammo.

Smokeless and Black Powder ammunition is handles the same by UPS.

 

However when filling out the paper work, it asks for a description of contents.

 

"Small Arms Ammunition" is all you need to put there. Do Not put Smokeless or Black Powder.

 

After years of shipping ammunition of all flavors and the hassles of new counter people, a supervisor finally said to put as little as I could and meet the requirements.

 

I place ORM-D stickers on top and two sides. They can furnish the stickers if you don't print them yourself.

 

Also some counter people will ask you the caliber and then write it on the side of the box on the outside.

1. don't tell them the caliber.

2. Ask for supervisor if the counter person press it and let the supervisor educate their counter person.

 

When I am asked "What Calibers?" I ask them for a copy of their driver's license. If they put the caliber on the box, it is a shopping list for thieves. If it does not arrive at it's destination, I want to know who I'm going to bill for losses and I have their drive's licenses in case I have to go to court.

 

In every case the supervisor educated them right then and there.
