Case Color and Bore Cleaners

Recommended Posts

Howdy:

I have acquired a couple of new toys which have case coloring (the rest of my toys are blue or SS). Rather than find out that a particular brand of bore cleaner is a disaster on such finished items, I am inquiring here to see if I can get a few opinions based on experience. Your responses are most appreciated.

Oh, toys are from Rossi and from EAA - that might be of help.

Thanks Folks:

I was going to use good ol' Hoppes. I didn't see any warning, so I figured I would give it a try. You folks pretty much confirmed my approach. Thanks again.

On my Turnbull case finished guns they recommend breakfree or remoil only. They use a clearcoat over the metal to keep sunlight from dulling the case finish. Harsher chemicals than these products strip the clearcoat. No Hoppes!
