Flying W Ramrod
Since Bud sold out to InBev, it ain't even american anymore. I only drink beer I brew. I make a "lawnmower ale" that's the perfect transition beer. From American Lager to tasty beer in a couple of glasses. As for supporting shooting, I support all the shooting I can and I won't drink Bud, Coors or Miller. Rolling Rock I like but I'm a Hoppy Ale Head. Fingers McGee
I have heard plenty of arrogant statements over the years on the Wire, but that is one of the most arrogant I have heard yet. Personally, if I am going to drink a beer I drink one with some flavor. Bud does not fall into that category. Thanks very much, but I will drink an American brewed microbrew, an English Ale, or in the summer I like Corona very much. If all there is on tap is Bud I'll have a ginger ale instead. I don't care how much money Bud spends on shooting sports, I can't stand their beer. That about sums it up for me. I'll drink to that ----- With a Sam Adams or Killians Fingers (Show Me MO smoke) McGee
Smokin Gator SASS #29736
I remember watching a show and they were saying that even in Ireland, more and more of the younger people were drinking American beers, particularly Budweiser. Anything different then what's local I guess. Sierra Nevada Brewery, located in Chico,Ca., is now looking for an additional location on the east coast. They are very much into being as "green" as possible and it would make distribution easier. Their Celebration Ale is out now. One of my favorites. Marshal J.D. Oak, SASS #35459L
I don't care what they support, they have dissed homebrewers (of which I am one), sold out to foreign interests, and screwed over several of my very good friends. Doc Coles SASS 1188
Its nice that they support the shooting sports, but they make awful beer. Heck, in Germany Bud does not even qualify as beer (it does not comply with the German beer purity laws). Its actually rice wine and it tastes like swill. The old joke goes: "Why is Budwiser like making love in a canoe?" "Cause its F#*@+#*@ close to water."
Blackwater 53393
It's all still yeast wee wee. Beer just makes me mad! When I did drink that dreck, I had to develop a taste for it and then had to buy a case of the crap to get close to accomplishing what a pint bottle of decent vodka could do with some to spare. Also, with vodka I didn't have to relieve my bladder three or four times as often. 3.2 or 5.0 or 10. makes no difference. It all tases worse than bad dishwater to me. 'Course, I don't like wine any better. I'll take Crown or Jack or a good vodka any day if I'm going to drink. As far as "purity laws" go...................... Ventura Slim, SASS #35690
Bud is okay and they actually make some good special brews. I make my own too and I asked a guy who worked at Bud about making it and he remarked it is difficult to continually make the beer the same year after year as the hops change from one harvest to another. Harvey Mushman
All you pards who won't drink a Bud product, please feel free to pass them on to me! On a hot summer afternoon I prefer a lighter Blond beer that I can see through (it gets close to 120F here). Otherwise, it's usually Guinness, Newcastle, or Harp, or in the east, a good Yuengling (US oldest continuous brewery) or an Old Dominion ale. Now I'm thirsty - think I'll open a Newcastle! Cheers Harvey BTW, the original Reinheitsgebot was passed to keep the brewers from using the better quality grains (used by the bakers) than barley. Also made it easier to tax the brewers for their raw materials (some things never change when government is involved). It also did not include yeast, as they did not yet know about it. As good as most German beer is, they have missed out on some great brews using other grains (and fruit) such as the Belgians - and many microbrewers-use. Rooster Ron Wayne
Budweiser is a huge supporter of the shooting sports..........and it don't taste like those sissy beers from Europe or Mexico! NSSF is pleased to announce the return of Budweiser as the official sponsor of the press room at the 2012 SHOT Show. With more than 2,000 members of the press attending the show, the SHOT Show Press Room is host to the largest gathering of outdoor media in the world. Budweiser's 2012 sponsorship marks the second year of a two-year commitment to be the official sponsor of the show’s press room. With its sponsorship, Budweiser joins Outdoor Channel, GunBroker.com and ArmaLite as major supporters of the SHOT Show I drink beer for the taste and not for who they sponsor . And bud is the worst tasting beer on the market . Its a rice beer and its not a American owned company any longer . Try a Sam Adams Winter Lager now that's a good beer . Oh yeah its a American company too.

Oddnews SASS# 24779
I'll drink a Bud now and again (goes well with pizza). From the standpoint of just being a beer lover, Anheuser-Busch makes two quite good beers now: the Budwieser American Ale and the Michelob Dunkel Weissen (the latter is a suprisingly good rendering of the style, but can be hard to find). Glad to hear the company supports the shooting sports. For years, I've had a Killians from time to time because of the Coors support of shooting sports (I hate Coors, Coors Light, etc., and the only thing they make that I can drink is Killians). Pretty sure they didn't build Vegas with the money people won, and everybody I know that goes there won? Bud is one of the largest beer producers in the world, didn't happen because they make bad beer. That said, I'd rather have about anything else when it comes to beer, but I'll drink it. The OP only meant to point out their support of the shooting sports, and we need all the friends we can get. DocWard
I drank enough Busch in college to support the company for a long time. If the Bud is offered, or if it is the only game in town, I will drink it it, otherwise I am looking for Guinness, an Irish beer such as Smithwicks (yes I know how to pronounce the name) or Harp, Sam Adams or some such. Sometimes I will go for a Tecate or Dos Equis, especially if eating Mexican, but Corona is one I cannot tolerate. I'll drink water instead. I firmly believe Corona would've never become as popular if it hadn't been for a picture of Sean Penn drinking one in "Rolling Stone" when he was popular with the younger crowd. I am glad they support the shooting sports, so if the choice is between Bud and another mainstream American beer, I will choose Bud from now on. As I recall Monte Python saying, American beer is like making love in a canoe... It's f***ing close to water.

Dirtwater Doc 17941
Considering that beer is the waste byproduct, (read that urine) of an animal lower on the food chain than bacteria, I don't see what difference the brand you choose makes at all!! Not quite correct. Yeasts are unicellular but are eukaryotes (like us) with a more complex genome, a nucleus and other cell organelles that bacteria (prokaryotes) lack. In my research days I would stock various yeasts and other supplies for our graduate students who home brewed. My "compensation" was agreed at a six pack of whatever they made. Some students made really good beer, while most of it was drain cleaner. I prefer microbrews and Sam Adams but keep 5L kegs of Newcastle at home. Hmmmmmm.....beeeerrrrr! Glad to hear they're supporting us crazy gun owners. Actually, read the press release again. ...as the official sponsor of the press room at the 2012 SHOT Show What they're actually sponsoring is the "Press Room"... not us gun owners. A bunch of pen-happy wannabe Hemingways! Lord forbid they were to actually sponsor a shooting event, THAT might be cause for celebration... or, maybe not, given what those same scribes would say about alcholol and guns... I wonder how many of those in the "4th Estate" are actually closet anti-gunners? Not all "support" actually is. I'm with Driftwood on this, not exactly cause for celebration, let alone my spending of dollars for such a dubious level of "support" for a product I don't care for. Oddnews SASS# 24779
About 30 years ago, Lone Star was attempting to market itself in the Kansas City area and ran a really stellar radio advertisting campaign. I still remember the scripts to a couple of the ads. (knock at door) "Is this the Williams' residence -- we came for the party?" "It TWO A.M. -- the Party was last night." "I brought a case of Lone Star." "WAKE UP, PATRICIA, WE'RE HAVIN' A PARTY!" Another one was "I'll take seven cases of Lone Star and a bag of peanuts." Are you having a party?"
