WHAT??? There are people posting on the WIRE that are not SASS members or have never been to a shoot??

How can that be??

There are folks, as guests, that have been on the Wire for quite a spell - they know what we are about, participate on the Wire frequently, enjoy the fellowship and use us as a resource for information. Of course guests are more than encouraged to be on the Wire, but after a couple years what's wrong with asking them to join & support us by becoming bonifide members?

Thanks CR - just reminding folks that we are a good group to join up with and worth supporting through a membership especially if they have been around for quite sometime....it's that simple...too bad some folks read into it more than just what you said.

GG, If the "guests" have been around for any length of time, they probably know about the quaility of the group here, maybe they have their reasons for not joning. If them being here is a problem for ya, have ya given any though to just frequenting the Sass Members Only forum? Maybe that is where ya need to be, ya think?

Thanks Cowboy Rance...I never said that I thought our 'guests' are a problem like Jacknife has misinterpreted. Just simply asking them, if they have been on the Wire for quite sometime to consider joinin' the SASS family via membership in 2012.

As a matter of fact I would be happy to pay a year membership if they needed.

Very cool.. and don't forget the NRA... they too need us to keep doing their good work. I try to help out a bit with a local one here in the Riverside area, it's a FNRA group. Anything we can do to keeps guns in the hands of the American People and the gun sports alive are good things...

I don't have a problem with guests being active participants on the WIRE. Since the late '90's when I discovered SASS, I've seen quite a few that were very active supporters of the sport that appeared as 'guests' on the WIRE.

We DO have a Member's Only forum if it bothers you as much as it appears to.

So you also have misread and misinterpreted my original post (no surprise  ) where in ANY of my posts do I mention that I have a 'problem' with guests on the Wire or that it 'bothers' me...where?

GG, I thought long and hard before opening and reading this thread. As you might recall we had a bit of a go-around a couple of times, first because I was a "Guest" and second because I wasn't a "shooter." I will agree with you that membership is a great thing, supporting the sport itself, and receiving the Chronicle and the like are simply added benefits.

The way I look at it, if a person is serious about shooting CAS, then a membership is a no-brainer. Once I knew I was going to be shooting, I joined. Long before I actually shot a match, if you'll recall. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much I will be shooting this year, or even if I will have the money to renew when the time comes. With this economy, there are certainly others in the same boat, and they may want to simply keep their fingers on the pulse of the sport, as I will if I can't renew. I have every intention to do so, but it will depend on where we are when the time comes. Just a thought to keep in mind.

I will take your OP as you have stated you intended it, as a sort of recruiting request as opposed to a demand, and hopefully the sport will benefit from it. Add my voice to the "if you can join, and you are shooting or plan to, then you should join if able" list.

I appreciate it - I understand about the economy and many other things - wasn't going there...just a simple food for thought for guests to consider making 2012 the year to take that next step.

Let me be clear: One does not have to be a SASS member to shoot (except in state, regional, and above matches), be on the Wire, or to participate in otehr ways!

Unbeleivable how my OP turned into a series of misinterpretations. Of course there are a few people that this doesn't come as a surprise.

I know you and I had our 'go arounds' but it wasn't just me pard - both of us were sayin' things that caused friction.

Maybe it needs to be even clearer...This is an invite. If they can't join that's fine. However, they do NEED to come out and play.. ;) Life is too short!!

Thanks Scratch - an invite indeed - I do like the NEED to come and play too :D

GG, if the "guests" present here bother ya, have ya ever thought about sending each and everyone of em a PM "requesting" (as you stated in the saloon) they join. Maybe they would appreciate a one on one invitation, seeing that you have a way with words that they couldn't resist? That way all the "clown shoe" wearers won't be offended. Either that or maybe MYOB. What ya think.

NO kiddin! oh well, some of us took it for level best GG

Folks are free to start their own thread with a different view. No use in pointing fingers. It's always easier to point a finger than lend a hand. Amusing how a little negativity spreads like wildfire.

better quit now before I get called a racist or a liberal! OOPS! I can see it now--here it comes... I ain't comin' back to see the rebuttal :P

Are you really that obtuse? With all the clarification and affirmation regarding the OP you STILL don't get it?

sigh ....
