Butch McGie, SASS#71758
My neighbor gave me her fathers Hornady apex auto press. It looks hardly used. I seem to have a hard time getting the primer drop to drop a primer everytime. It works about 96% of the time -just often enuff to be frustrating, plus if that happens, it is a trip to the air compressor to blow the powder out from under the rotating mechanism. I have finally decided to deprime, size and prime then take the case out, then after I have a bunch primed then start again at the second stage and finish up. Any suggestions? Abilene Slim SASS 81783
I recommend starting with Hornady Customer Support. I've found them to be very helpful. Hornady Customer Support
Bluestem Baldy Sass #74045
For me, it is a matter of being disciplined enough to pull the lever and WAIT until the primer has dropped all the way before I start to move the lever up. There is a fraction of a second delay needed. Once I get into the production mode, I tend to start to speed up. Kind of like I do with my golf swing......which is why I started cowboy action shooting.
