The Hawker Hurricane, Supermarine Spitfire, and P-51 Mustang were all pretty much the same size. But, yeah, the rest of the US fighters were massive brutes. Almost universally pilots from other countries who climbed into Thunderbolts and Corsairs felt lost in the huge cockpits and felt like they were in command of a flying tank.
