I'd go with the Llamas. I own three pair of his boots and all are better than any of the others I've had over the years. That said, nothing beats going to an actual good boot shop. Every maker seems to fit differently and while the Llamas work for me, they may not feel good to you. Don't care what the boot looks like if it hurts your feet after a while. Quote

I think Olathe might be better quality but as mentioned its what fits and is comfortable that matters. So many so called boot stores sell seconds these days and sizes even in the left/right vary a lot it seems. I like my boots but it is not my everyday walking boots. I wear them for special occasion only. Those heels are tough for long concrete walks. My everyday boot is a Justin AQHA, double stitched, square toe with walking heels. I would suggest to find a western store that carry those boots and walk around the store. Just make sure the store is okay with it. Quote

Coffee Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I have Buck-a-Roo boots from both Tony Lama and Olathe. I prefer the Olathe boot - it is a bit lighter. I wear mine all day at the match - no problem I'm on my 3rd set of heels and 2nd set of soles on the Olathe's I have not yet worn out the first set of heals on the Tony Lama's Coffee Quote

Don't like the sole. Slick sole. Could be slick when trying to run around on a stage on a board walk. Take a look at the Ariat Ropers. And have been really great in holding up when riding. It is the only boots I have anymore. And have several pair. Did not like the others you posted at all. While at work I must wear stell toed boots, My Olathe'sare on the 3rd heels and soles. Da Tony Lama's need new heels and soles, but my boot repair guy said ders not enuff matieral left to work wif ! Deja Vous Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 My olathes are snake boots and in baby blue with high darker tops and the vamp over the arch. They have a riding heel but roper heels are nice on a boot too. I have a few pairs of boots from back in my horse showing training days... but I love the olathes.. They are from 1991 and have had a new sole put on them and heels ... but the inside is still nice. I have a pair of Justin Roper with the old crepe soles, and a pair of ladies boots that the sole have always been toooo thin on.. Gotta get those fixed.. lol Oh, and a pair of Dan Posts and a pair of earthwalkers MOCS... and my favorite shoe is a MOC. Wear them a lot. I love all of them, never have a problem walking around in them... But I would not hike in them.. lol... I think you need to try them on and walk around a bit... Nothing is perfect for all of us... Good stories and artwork. Hate the heels. Those are comics. And might seem cool to some. But don't make a whole lot of sence when you get to stage 4, and got some more to go. And your feet are killing you. Hard to shoot good and have a good time when your feet hurt. And those WOULD hurt my feet by stage 2. I would rather be comfortable and be able to finish the day shooting, pain free.. But then again. I have made 100% of my living with horses one way or the other. For most my life. And look for something that will not only hold up around here, but be comfortable for work and riding. Don't really care much for the ohter stuff. Quote
Chickahominy Charlie Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Everybody has differently shaped feet, regardless of the size similarities. Every boot maker has a differently shaped boot. So, IMHO, it stands to reason that different boot manufacturers will feet some folks' feet and not others -- well. The key, again IMHO, is that you find the one that fits YOUR feet. Tryin' on is the only way to know. I wear boots 90% of the time -- work, play, shoot, whatever. My "non-shooting" boots are Lucchese. I own 5 pair in differenct styles, colors, etc. But, these fit me better than any others I've tried....and I've tried a bunch. Again, they need to fit YOUR foot and be comfortable for YOU to wear. Lucchese boots are a bit pricey, but I have a pair that are on their 4th re-soling, so I guess I've managed to get my money's worth out 'em. Good Luck! Chick Quote
