Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I have a line on a S&W .35 auto pistol with the grip safety still intact, 3 digit serial number, 90%++ gun inside and out, all original, no box or paper goods. Looks near perfect. Is ammo available? Is it worth anything as a collector?
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Very collectable. Ammo hasn't been available for decades. It used a lead bullet with a copper nose cap. Similar to, but not interchangeable with, the .32 auto. Here's a nice one. http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/admin/product_details.php?itemID=43381

The one I'm looking at has a better finish but the grips are a bit more ragged. Like I said, near perfect. Guess I'lll see if I can talk the guy down a bit......even though it's much lower than any I've sen on line. I just bought a Remington Model 51 in .32 acp from him for about 2/3 the going prices I've seen online. Maybe I can get hit by that same lightning again.
Doc Fill 'Em 67797 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I saw one comparable to the one pictured at the big gunshow in Tulsa a couple weeks ago. Asking price was $650. I liked it, but don't need another safe queen. Neat gun though.
