Guest Tennessee Stud, SASS# 43634 Life Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Advice to a Greenhorn First off... don't be takin' advice from the likes of me.... Now... that leaves you confronted with a paradoxical... incongruous... but staggerin' dilemma. Don't it? Do you take my advice above... or not? ts Quote
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I believe ya, TS! Quote

It is sort of like waking up to being 5 again in my family of 7 children.. lol We were rowdy, funny, you never felt alone, you were loved, and all the kids wanted you to play too.. lol.. Rooster Ron Wayne Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Welcome to the greatest shooting sport in the game of shooting . You will meet the best people here. I tried IDPA and some other shooting games. I found the game was not worth the people you had to deal with. WELCOME TO THE GAME !!! Quote
Lefty Stone Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 We will be shooting Dec 5th in Rockford MI...on black Friday there will be a shoot there also. Google Wolverine Rangers...that's our State SASS affiliate club. The Rockford Regulators also have a You Tube channel. GG Just got confirmation that this group is shooting on Dec. 3rd, going to head out and give it a watch.... 170 miles round trip, but should be worth it.... wondering if I should bring my .36cal cap and ball Navy replica with my eyes and ears..... Rooster Ron Wayne Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Howdy All, As the Greenhorn in question from above, I am wondering what advice you may have for someone just starting out. I have a number of years experience in other forms of shooting (PPC,IDPA) but, the lure of Single Action pistols, and the Old West is too great to keep me away..... I am hoping to use the Winter Months here in MI to visit some local clubs, meet some folks, and get my gear together for the Spring. Thanks in Advance for your time taken to look at this, and pass along any Pearls..... Lefty Stone SASS# 93612 Most every one you meet will offer you help and advice . listen and try to see what works for you . But the number one thing is safety and number two HAVE FUN !!! Quote

Eyes and ears are required at most ranges whether you are shooting or just watching. I'd bring along your guns just in case. Lot's of clubs will let you shoot the steel targets a little after the matches if they are not in a hurry to pack off the steel. Make sure you bring lead bullets....no jacketed rounds. Quote
