The ATN Aries MK7900-B Crusader combines three important elements to yield great detection and recognition range in a night vision scope: a great intensifier tube, powerful 5x magnification and a fast f/1.4 objective to draw in a large swath of light to magnify. The MK7900-B Crusader fits standard Weaver-type bases and has both a soft eyecup and a flip-down objective lens cover. Built to withstand harsh abuse, the Crusader should provide years of service life without fanfare. The Crusader uses an exclusively-US-manufactured 3rd generation image intensifier tube, and as such requires a license for exportation.

 

There are many different variables that effect the distance that one can see with a night vision device, among them the object's size, the level of details being sought from the object and the conditions of observation. Night vision devices detect much further under a full moon and clear skies than they will under a new moon and cloudy skies. Many different formulas are used to determine the statistic of maximum viewing range and this varies by manufacturer, so ultimately the generation of the intensifier tube is much more relevant than any quoted statistic when determining the maximum viewing range.
