H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619
Winchester, Marlin, Colt for while, and a whole host of other gun makers maunfactured lever action rifles during the old west period. On the other hand, for pump action rifles there was the Colt Lightning and... Was there anything else? I know that Remmington came out with some pump rifles in rifle calibers in the early 1900's, so that would rule them out of SASS use, but did anyone other than Colt try their hand at a pistol caliber rifle (even without an exposed hammer) prior to the turn of the 20th Century? Or for that matter, in the 1900's. Other than .22's I can't think of any pump rifles chambered in pistol cartridges besides the Lightning. Does anyone out there with better knowledge than I posess know anything different?
Wild Ben Raymond, SASS 23108,
I'm not sure of the model number is correct but I believe Marlin made a model 27 pump in 25-20 & 32-20, from 1910 to about 1916. It had a short tube magazine so it won't hold 10 rds. and it was made after the turn of the century, so it wouldn't make the SASS cut-off date of 1899. WBR Here's one up for auction. http://rockislandauction.com/viewitem/aid/53/lid/
