Only one I have seen make it all the way through 6 stages. Tried two. Could not get 10 rounds out without problems. Do a search. There was a good thread awhile back with many listing there porblems. Ben Bitten
http://henryrepeating.com/rifle-big-boy.cfm dont know anything about the henry ,Has anyone seen one in action???? ROSIE I have. The action wasn't bad, but it's heavy. Heavier than a Rossi or a Marlin. ...it felt almost twice that of a Rossi. The weight makes it slow to bear on a target when shooting off a clock, or moving quickly from target to target. The weight also starts to feel like it's fighting against the easy action after a while - if that makes sense. Its got a nice fit and finish, but cost wise it's comparable to a Marlin. But as far as quality goes Marlins outstrip the HBB by a long shot. It's a pretty gun, but on a whole I wasn't impressed with it.
Lone Dog, SASS #20401
http://henryrepeating.com/rifle-big-boy.cfm dont know anything about the henry ,Has anyone seen one in action???? ROSIE Depends on what you call "action". I have seen about a dozen shooters show up to our local match with a shiny new Big Ugly Boy. After struggling with their spanky new jammamatic for a stage or two or even all six frustrating stages all but one didn't show back up next time with that boat anchor/tomato stake. We have one ole guy who still uses one regularly but he is slow, real slow. The BUB is the worst of all possible choices for CAS. I would rather shoot a Winchester 94. Ace_of_Hearts
A club takes it upon themselves to disallow a SASS legal gun?? Do they also disallow the 1860 Henry for the same reason of an "unsafe loading safety hazard"? +
Whoa Bart #67544
Howdy. Took me 2 years to get the hardware I use for a shoot. I like Winchesters, ever seen a movie about a Marlin or Imported Rifle???????????? I like American Hardware, Ruger, Stevens, Savage. Shoot what you want. Opinions are nice to have. Buy what you want and make them your guns. You will have more fun that way. If, you end up with a gun you don't like, trade for one you do like. That is also part of the fun. Gun Shopping. Oh Yeh.
