Morning

I am interested in getting a single six for practice purposes and fun.

How does the size of it compare to a nmv?

Can't get my hands on one at the moment to see.

Any side by side pics would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have two Original Model Vaquero and use two old three screw Single sixes for fun and practice.

The single sixes and a bit smaller than the OMV so they should be just about the right size for the NMV.

My philosophy is that having the single sixes are going to allow me to live fire practice more than I would with the Vaqueros because they are way cheaper to shoot.

I don't believe the slight difference in size is too much of a factor.

The price of good used singles has come down in the past year or so also.

Happy shooting!

Actually I would call them about an 80% with perhaps even a slight + to ratio to the frame size/barrel dia. of New Vaqueros. I have a pair of the New Model Single Sixes in .22 and just use my Colt size holsters for them. There is a slight bit of slop but acceptable for my purposes. I find that the NMVs are a virtual wash, size wise, to the SAA Colt and its clones, leather for them is interchangeable. Many shooters actually seem to prefer a holster that has been sized with an old model RV to house their competition New Models or Colts so you might even like the fit of the SS in your regular holsters?

One last thought, just in case you are thinking about grip sizes. My Single Sixes have grips on them that came from standard New Model Vaqueros, so I'm guessing most of us would not notice much difference in the feel of the two in hand.

One other thought, I like gettin guns I shoot a LOT in stainless

as stainless takes a beatin better.

Also You can get thicker grips for the single six.

AAAAnd dont spend much extra for the 22 mag cylinder unless you

have a real use for it.

I used my mag cylinder about five times since I bought my single six in 1986...

best

One other note, there is a ten shot version if you would like that.
