Drop all shooting categories

I like your idea as a first step. Hold a short nomination period for submission of category desires. Let everyone vote for their favourite one choice amongst all nominations. Pick a number, such as eight, to be the maximum number of categories allowed. Top vote getters become the new choices. If folks think it out, it could be done with eight categories and still cover all shooting styles and weapons/ammunition choices while cutting out a ton of fat.

Ding, Ding. The winner! No categories means, based on analysis of times at major matches like Bordertown, CAC, WR and EoT, that you would give awards and recognition only to the top 5 or 10 or 15% (you pick one) of the smokeless "Cowboy up to Senior" two-handed men shooters, and maybe an occasional gunfighter and lady. Kids, almost all women, duelists, older shooters, frontier cartridge, well-costumed, big-bore, and cap-n-ball invested shooters all are "permanent losers" under such a plan.

Not much fun. We don't take much away from matches except some recognition. No Cadillac's, no pots of money, rarely even a gun.

We have categories so that more folks with a variety of interests all can have fun together under the same big tent. I like it just the way it is.

Good luck, GJ

Skip the awards and trinkets. Look at the score board and see where you placed against whomever you are chasing.

Could hand out awards to 50% of the shooters (more or less what they give out at the biggy shoots now) and use a random number generator to figure out which shooters gets the "Prize". This would stop CP'ing.... LOL!!

As it is now, about the same people in whichever catagory you want to look at, take home the prizes.... as should be since they have put the most 'time' and 'money' into the sport. Every once in a while, a blind squirrel finds an acorn, and that makes it interesting. The rest of us are brides maides.

Just funnin' here and just saying...
