Unplanned "Entertainment" at Bordertown

After the first day's shooting in the morning we were just resting in the RV minding our own business. All of the sudden we heard tires squealing and sirens running. Turned out to be three Border Patrol vehicles chasing a pickup into our RV park. The pickup was still running at high speed, at least for interior of the RV park. As it turned down the lane our RV was parked in, all the occupants flew out of the vehicle while the vehicle still moving, engine running in gear, with the occupants scattering in every direction. There were about 6 or 7 in this mid size pickup long cab, but without rear doors. The pickup continued down our lane driverless and thankfully veered away from our RV and crashed into a tree and an empty 5 wheel trailer across from us. Several Border Patrol agents proved themselves quite fleet of foot catching most if not all of the "occupants". A couple started running in the desert toward the Bordertown shoot, where the after noon shift had just started shooting. The occupants did not make it as far as the shoot before they were caught by the agents bringing them back to the RV park. If they were not caught it might have got interesting as they were looking for cover and there was a lot at the shoot (but they would have had to run over the hill/berm and then through the shooting bays back to front first)!

Always gratifying and yes, sometimes entertaining to watch our tax dollars at work.

I'm glad no one was hurt. There's a reason there is a Border Patrol check point there. I recall standing down on a few occasions while "visitors" cleared our playing field.

We had that happen once at Tucson rifle Club during a match. It was pretty exciting to see the International track team run the back berms ahead of the local good guys.

safe trails,
