Citizenship Test

Recommended Posts

I was getting them all right until they said "to bear arms" was a wrong answer, then I quit.

That question was about the freedoms enumerated in the First Amendment, of course "to bear arms" would be the wrong answer.

96/96 here.

Yeah I was trying to speed up the exam by reading too fast., three clicks per question was pushing my buttons as taking too long.

don't make it very hard do they?

For most of the people who inhabit this board, no.

But I have no doubt that far more than 50% of citizens would not pass this simple test. And the percentage would probably go up as the age group goes down.

Another question I got a kick out of was Name the two prominant political parties in the US and one of the choices was republican, democrat and whig.

You read that wrong, Meg. The Democratic Republican Party was founded by Jefferson and Madison in the 1790s. It was commonly referred to as the Republican party at the time, and pushed Jeffersonian Democracy. Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe were all presidents who ran as Democratic Republicans. It split up through internal factionalism in the late 1820s and the dominant faction became the Democratic Party, I think Andy Jackson was the first Democratic president. The other faction became the National Republican, which shortly changed its name to Whig.

American and Bull-Moose

Democratic and Republican
