Pistolas para mi Esposita

Recommended Posts

Thinking about getting my wife involved.

All ya all ladies out there, what kind of pistolas would be most appropriate?

RNVs in 38 (357) .4.5 - 5.5 barrels?

Single six 32 hr mag?

I already have RV 44mag 7.5 and RNV .45 Colt 7.5 and think they may be a little heavy and stout. Generally shoot 700 - 750 fps loads with either 205 or 245 grainers. Not sure I know how to get down to the 400 FPS mouse killer loads

I have seen a bunch of ya out there with 45s so 5.5 inchers would prolly not be outside consideration.

She is 5'6" with smallish kind of hands, not tiny but smallish

My wife is 5'4" tall, about 120 lbs, and she shoots 5.5" Model P's in 45 colt. She does have the larger type birdshead grip on them, though. Weight is your friend up to a point, heavier guns recoil less, all else being equal

:FlagAm::FlagAm::FlagAm::FlagAm::FlagAm:

Calamity JoAnne shoots the early model K-Vaqueros that are 7.5" .44 mag.

They ain't full Warthog loads, but are over 900 FPS 205 gr.

She is about 5'6" and under 140#.

Does that help?

Wife loves her Ruger Blackhawks. .357

Gunfighter grips. Super Blackhawk hammers.

Shoots a 110gr bullet.

She tried just about everything out there before she picked.

And before we bought.

Let her try many. Let her pick. Gun and caliber.

Lots of that spoken out here in Arizona Territory some of them what speaks it is even here legally - heck lots of them have grand parents what was born here as well.

Don't mean we need to promote it.

Getting as bad as press one for english.

Started not to answer your question because of it.

But it was for your wife. So I did.

My 18 year old daughter shoots 5 1/2" Model P Jr's and loves 'em. She was shooting 3 1/2" P Jr's before these and had a bit of a time with the short barrels.

Why treat your wife with less consideration that what we give to a new (potential) shooter we don't know?

The standard advice is to "try our guns" before they make any purchases. We never say "We'll pick out some guns for you and you're stuck with them."

Let her try some of the various calibers and grip shapes and make up her own mind about what she wants.

Do the same for the rifle and shotgun while yur at it ;)

My wife shoots Ruger New Vaquero's, 4 5/8" barrels, .357 Mag, SBH hammers.

My 15 yo daughter shoots Colt clones, 5 1/2" barrels, .357 Mag.

Wife has been shooting for about a year, daughter about six months, and neither would trade with the other at this stage of the game. Who knows what the future holds...

Spoken kinda like a woman there Lou.

If I get her something I like, I will still have em, when she get what she really wants!!!!!

Which is not not say your answer is not the right one.

Get her something you like. She does not like so much. Then you will still have them.

And you sure may have a wife that don't go shoot with you either.

Got my wife what she wanted right from the start. She is still going with me to shoots

most the time. And still shooting the same guns.

Worth every penny to have her with me.

Heck. I even get to go to more big matches because she want to go also.

I call that a WIN WIN.

P.S. She will let you know real quick. Those are HER guns.

She.. on her own... went back to the 38's and is still shootin' HER SS Vaquero's... I kinda lost out on that one

Kinda the same thing with shotgun.. I shoot SxS.. she started with SxS...

Girls said ya need a 97.. got her one.. had it slicked up..

She carried a greenish one for 20.25 years now it is kinda blueish and says LTC USA RET or maybe just 05 USA RET, not sure. Trust me her spanish is worse than mine. Several years in AZ and then all over the place in the army for 20 + years has got her talking real merican and not her native Minnesotan aboot time dont ja know.

Darn had not thought of that!!!

Yep.

Many times I have just mentioned a shoot somewhere. And she says "We should go":rolleyes:

Last year as we was packing to leave Comin At'Cha. She said. Think I would go more if we had a bigger

camper. (we had a small Lance camper that goes on the bed of the truck) That was on a Sunday. Monday

we was signing the papers on a bigger travel trailer with a couple of slide outs.:rolleyes:

Nothing beats having her go with me.
