Cemetery
Just wondering if anybody ever tossed gun parts in a tumbler, and if so what was the result? I was thinking of tossing some parts from my '73 into my tumbler to see what the deal is. Does is work to smooth 'em out? Or is this simply balderdash? Remo, SASS #17644
Just wondering if anybody ever tossed gun parts in a tumbler, and if so what was the result? I was thinking of tossing some parts from my '73 into my tumbler . Does is work to smooth 'em out? No it will not... I don't think you would be foolish enough to use an abrasive media such as sand or glass beads. Ceramic will polish and may help a little but there is nothing that replaces a competent action job... not even the toothpaste fable.
Virgil Ray Hality, SASS# 37355
Ya, Ask Navy Six next time you see him. I think he tumbled his carrier to clean it up.
Dusty Boddems
i don't know that it would work but if it did you might be taking away sharp edges that you need . there wouldn't be anyway to control where material is removed from or polished at. i would put it in the bad idea file. but it's not my 73 so if you want to swing at we will all be waiting to hear how this polish job turns out-------------dusty
Doc Flimshaw Sass# 73310
I have a feeling that all it would do is make the parts a little shiny, I been cleaning brass that's at least a few years old and it hasn't removed any metal yet,and brass is pretty soft............Doc
John Boy
I was thinking of tossing some parts from my '73 into my tumbler to see what the deal is. If I was to do an experiment with parts clanking together in a tumbler, would be darn sure that that they were parts I could order from Lisa at VTI - not originals from a '73 musket Cemetery, the old expression also applies ...
