Lupus

Haven't been able to shoot much the last 2 years and found out this spring why. I have been diagnosed with Lupus. It makes me too fatigued and sore to be able to go out and shoot very often any more. Just trying to be at the range for 5 hours is completely exhausting and now I find I have to avoid being in the sun. I miss the people as much or more than the sport.

Was finally able to get out last weekend but have been paying for it since. And doing posse duties? Can't stand there long enough to even count for more than a stage or two. Dang, I can't wait til the doc gets this under control.

You are in my prayers. Genetic, auto-immune diseases can be difficult to sort out.

My hope is that you find the very best, Board Certified Rheumatologist in your neighborhood. Ideally, this specialist will have a great deal of experience with others who suffer similar problems. Then, you and this doctor can work to significantly slow, if not arrest the progression of the disease. There are doctors that know how to work with this disease. The sooner you find the right physician, the greater the chance of improvement and preservation of your well-being.

Good luck to you in finding the help you require.

So, you're a WereWolf!!?!?!?!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Hope your doc can treat it. It sucks to not have energy to do anything... unless there's not anything you want to be doing.

Well I do have an abundance of body hair!

Dr. Roldan is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology. He comes highly recommended by neurologist and went to school with my opthamologist. I bounced from dr to dr trying to find out what was wrong until be came up with it. We have been working on a plan and I go back on Veteran's Day. Had 22 missed last week but at least they all went down range! I need the practice if nothing else.

I had the privilege of “Spend the Evening with Bill Medley” at Lido Cinema. What a great evening but more importantly it was fund raiser for Lupus.

Hoping for the best for you!

Thanks BH and all. They are doing some clinical trials on UVA1 therapy in Chicago that seems to hold some promise. I started on Plaquenil in May and will probably start methotrexate next month. As it is low level chemo it might even help with my "diet". My wife's aunt has also had Lupus and has recently been able to get out of her wheelchair for the first time since I have known her in 15 years.

Wow! Great news about the aunt! It sounds like you are in good hands.

Best wishes for a successful treatment!

I'm so glad you're working with a Rheumatologist!!! Hopefully they'll get you on a treatment plan that gets you under control real quick! Get you a stool for counting...some places you can't use them...but lots of places you can...you can also drag your gun cart over and work the unloading table. Get your rest when your can...before, during, and after the match.
