I LOVE the area I'm living in here in northern N.M..Beautiful country, the people here are AWESOME, and Founder's Ranch is just down the road a piece..But the job I took out here ain't what I thought it was going to be, to put it mildly (No point in going into detail on that one )..Soooo, I've been puttin' in for other duty stations, and I got a call today from Golden Spike NHS in Utah..Yup, the place where the two railroads came together! Not a done deal by any stretch of the imagination, just an interview..What I was wondering is, are there any CAS clubs in the area anybody might know of? On the map it looks pretty secluded, which is OK by me, (I like secluded) and it looks to be close to the east shore of the Great Salt Lake..The little bit of checking out so far seems to indicate considerably cheaper rent in the area than what I'm paying now, and the job would be a step up in pay grade,as well as what some would consider "rank", which would mean more opportunities for training and moving up to the better jobs..Which alone would make it worth the move..Would be nice to know there are some places to go shootin' though! What the heck, my home and family is already 1500 or so miles away anyhoo..So in that regard, I have nothing to lose.. Wish me luck Pards and Pardettes, I could use it!
twelve mile REB Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Lots of shooting nearby but nothing is really close to the park. The exception is long range held just outside the park but within sight of the monument. Five clubs could be considered nearby if you plan on living at the monument although I don't think there is much housing there. Your bet bets are Mantua, ut 36mi. Logan Ut. 52mi, Fruit Heights 68mi, or Salt Lake City 87mi. All Mileage is from the monument if you lived in Carrinne then everything would be closer. Doc Cherokee, SASS#48332 Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 Thanks, Twelve Mile..The phone interview went well (I hope) sounds like there's a good chance I might get an offer..I liked what I heard, sounds like a good opportunity. The interviewer told me to check out Tremonton and Brigham City for rentals..My driving distance will basically double from what I'm doing now..But the few rentals I've checked out so far are considerably cheaper so it should balance out in that regard, and the pluses outweigh the minuses.

Lots of places normally in it fer rent and for realtors in the area as well. It'd give ya an idea of lots of places and prices. If ya want one, gimme a PM with your mailing address.
