Iron Pony Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Hardpan my folks have had a copy of this sign for a long time but I never knew its origin. IIRC they got if from a neighbor friend who happened to be a New Mexico cattle rancher, not Grissom though.
Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I never met Mr. Griscom but I like him.
Utah Bob #35998 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Hardpan my folks have had a copy of this sign for a long time but I never knew its origin. IIRC they got if from a neighbor friend who happened to be a New Mexico cattle rancher, not Grissom though. Well we still don't know of its origin for sure do we?
Doc Cherokee, SASS#48332 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 We could use more signs like that along the border nowadays, IMHO.. Back in N.C. the county adjacent to the one I grew up in had a reputation for being rough..Really didn't matter if ya were local or not, one had best watch one's step down there..I remember two handmade signs that were still in place in the late 80's..One was next to a roadside pond and read: "warning fishers-i have plenty of time and shot" It didn't take too much imagination to get the message! The other was on a driveway gate and simply read "Keep the he** out!" It was said the old man who lived there had once shot his own son for kicking his dog..
Chickahominy Charlie Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 That sign would be equally as applicable to border ranches and land parcels today, I suspect..... Chick
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Wonder if we could get this gentleman to run for congress? Probably too old.
Marshal Phil DeGrave SASS #55202 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 How could an illegal understand the sign?? Press 1 for English ........
Gunner Gatlin, SASS 10274L Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I love it! My thought too GG ~
Henry T Harrison Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 How could an illegal understand the sign?? Press 1 for English ........ That wasn’t very nice. Remember that they are not illegal aliens, they are undocumented immigrants and are our guests. Isn’t that why we lavish them with free money, better health care than most of our senior citizens can afford, free education and a host of other gifts
Pack Saddle Slim, SASS #73122 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Love it! Got this one at my place, but I keep it out back on the gate leading into the chicken yard. I've thought about nailing a sign out at the end of the drive with a big target painted on it, with the bullseye filled with .45 holes, with the words: WARNING! You are now within range! ...but I'm pretty sure the missus would frown upon it. Sign
