Subdeacon Joe
Couple of mine. 'Nuff Said. That one annoys the living hell out of me. It's waaaay beyond a "peeve". Goes. "So I go, 'whacha wanna do', and he goes, 'I donno, whachu wanna do', and I go 'let's go to the mall' and he goes, 'no, I don't wanna go there'." Judge Wapner became a personal hero of mine when, after somebody said "goes" about three times, he said, "People do not 'go' in my courtroom. They 'say'." Poor dummy he was talking to didn't even get it. Yep. 'nuff said. Jest sayin'
Lone Dog, SASS #20401
Charlie, not directed at you, just a couple others that just don't set well with me. A clue..... a DOG and a FLY Well, pard it pains me not a whit that you don't appreciate my efforts which in all cases are altruistic. I guess you would be in a real spinning tizzy if I didn't bite my tongue 99% of the time. Sometimes I just have to pipe up whether you like it or don't like it or how it "sets" with YOU. That you would resent a person who is merely trying to help others with no hope of any positive feedback from the helped or the peanut gallery reflects on YOU. My compulsion to chime in on occasion can be considered a failing I guess. I would rather suffer from it than be the unappreciative taker of umbrage at such. And yes I am from Texas born and raised and very proud of that. I know it bothers a lot of folks that there is such a great state in existence at all. Petty jealousy I guess. I don't have time or inclination to study why the mere existence of Texas "bugs" so many so much. If a poor pedantic Texian may be allowed a pet peeve or twa I would like to contribute to this string. Your for you're. And there for they're and their. Makes me want to rant. A young high school lady with very good grades vistited our VFW meeting and gave a little speech asking for a scholarship. During her talk she kept pronouncing especially as expecially. Afterwards, as the officer of the day (a misnomer as it is aXually a semi-permanent position and in other outfits corresponds to sgt at arms) I escorted her from the sanctorum and as I bade her adieu at the door tried to explain to her the error of her ways. She looked at me like I had 3 heads and is probably still expecially-ing her way thru life. She got the scholarship.

Good...it was probably because of reasons more important than a 'During her talk she kept pronouncing especially as expecially' anal analysis 'Nuff said! And there for they're and their. I'd also add to, too, and two, along with lose and loose. (edit) I forgot to add advise and advice. As for Texas, I don't know anybody who is bothered by the state itself. I have been known to be bothered by TEXANS that act like Texas is THE one and only God's country and that the rest of us are second class citizens for not being there. Texas is a fine place and I've known some good people from there. But the same can be said for rest of the fifty States that make up our country. Alpo
What's a "twa"? As long as you been here, you oughta know. It was a typo on a story called "A Hand or Two", back when the Saloon (ACS) had just opened. It was writ "A Hand or Twa" and went from there. Us "original Saloonatics" know about it. The same as a horse's "hoo beats" and the town of "Too-stone" came from typos.
