Howdy,

My 1911 had its extractor fail and a friend put in one for me.

Now after not much shooting the second one is failing about one

shot in five. My 1911 has a matt stainless finish and I would like

the extractor to match but its not a deal breaker especially if

I can find a real good one.

Thanks aheado time.

One of the best I have used in recent years is the Wilson "Bullet Proof" extractor. About 30 bucks and they are tough. I would say you have other problems if the extractor is "failing" that often.

Get an AFTEC extractor. You have to fit it but it is very easy to do. 10-15 mins. You don't have to tune it like a traditional extrator. Plus once it is fit you are done for good. It has springs in it to keep tension correct. If they get weak then just replace the springs. I have yet to have to replace mine and most of the serious USPSA shooters down here run them. Also if you need help with it then all you have to do is call Millenium Customs in FL and Dereck will walk you through it. I have replaced most of my customers extractors with this one. They are pricey at @ 65.00 but you have already replaced 2 at @ 30.00 ea. Definately worth it IMO.

Just more info for ya,

Howdy,

The ammo was some reloaded lead and some winchester fmj factory.

After further looking and comparing it looks like a corner has chipped

off of this extractor.

Brand of gun? Colt combat commander 70.

Im not ezzactly sure if I know what a recoil buffer is so Im not

sure if I have one or not... this particular Colt belonged to a

police officer friend of mine. He won several contests with it.

I never mess with something that works.

Its set up however he set it up.

Im thinking I need a good quality extractor and handing the job

to a real gunsmith.

So back to my question: Which extractor is best for 1911?

And Id like matt silver if possible.
