Texas Phil Peeno #50923
I had a conversation yesterday about wearing hats in public areas. I say that casinos, office building elevators, my office/stall, airplanes, trains and restaurant holding areas are "maybe" areas. I consider these as public areas. Flashpowder Hal
I'd be in the yes and no to some of those areas. If I'm "in transit" like public buildings and elevators I'll wear a hat, But if I'm in an area where I'll be seated; cubicle, airplane, train, then I'd remove my hat. If someone sat in front of me on a plane, him leaning back with a western hat-brim in my face, would be down-right rude. JMHO

Aunt Jen
I think that if the hat would block someone's view, notably, then it could be removed. I think it's not the hat, per se, but the blocking of a view. Example: I have taken to wearing a ball cap or painter's cap every day, in recent years, when working with Painless. Bending over him. Keeping my hair out of my face. And he always wears a ballcap by habit. But we often go to the movies, because he's responding to them. So we're in the movies with a hat on, and we sit down front. But I put dark-colored hats on us, so they don't shine in there and they're physically small, so no view is blocked. If I put cowboy/girl hats on us, then I'd take them off during the show, because the wide brim could block someone's view. But to see a cowboy hat on someone at the airport, in office buildings, at the mall, or other public areas: I think it's nice.

Hi Folks, Jen shows good sense and courtesy for others. About the last sentence, this always makes me smile. Regards, Allie Mo
Charlie Harley, #14153
My dad taught me to remove my hat whenever indoors, no matter what the occasion. Uncle Sam refined and reinforced many of his views. I probably take my hat off more than what most people consider necessary, but that's just me. Will you do the same thing while sitting on a card table in Las Vegas? I don't think I ever say JW take his hat off in a bar or saloon unless he was with a woman like in Angel and the Badman. The same goes with Paladin, the consumate gentleman that he is.
