I'm reading this 6th book of the Clan of the Cave Bear series, so far there's been:

Clan of the Cave Bear (also a movie back in 1986 with Darryl Hannah)

The Valley of Horses

The Mammoth Hunters

The Plains of Passage

The Shelters of Stone

The Land of the Painted Caves (current book)

I read "The Mammoth Hunters" first, then read "Clan of the Cave Bear". Sort of enjoyed both of them, but not enough to delve further.

I'm sure the author is quite studied on the subject, but it seemed to me she used a bit too much artistic license in describing the the things we really know nothing about.

This most recent book is written from her perspective on actually visiting the painted caves in the south of France. She goes into waaay too much detail but it's enjoyable.:) Rye
