Old Scatterbrain
I copied from a thread on another forum. I did not know wax bullets were poured into molds. I have always been under the impression they were made by by pressing a cartridge case into a block of wax.
Jefro, SASS#69420
Or you can just buy them for $25-1000 I shoot Cowboy Fast Draw, the .45 cases we use are specially made for a 209 shotgun primer. IMHO, wax bullets ain't all that good for SASS practice, much better to dry fire and work on transitions. Slowhand Bob, 24229
I have only tried a few but can say that there are special cases for wax use in many of our rifles and shotguns. I ran a few through one of my '73s and found that they did pretty good once you got the feel for them. If you ever make one of the larger shoots you might want to try out the vendor row, we had an outfit offering these products plus special acrylic targets for wax use. Badlands Bob #61228
There was a discussion on the Wire last year about this. As I recall they were drilling out the primer hole and warming the wax on a cookie sheet to soften it. Then press the case into the wax and cut out a plug. Mustang Gregg
Just the flash hole, not primer hole.
Yusta B.
Just the flash hole, not primer hole. And it's lot easier to load the wax bullets first - then prime the cases .......
