Abilene Slim SASS 81783
Heres one for the radial engine crowd. Some of the best Beech-18 flying ever. About three minutes into the video, you'll see the plane actually flying thru the billboard. No R/C planes or computer generated imagery! And another. Fast forward to about the 3-minute mark. Great piloting and yes, that's a real stuntman on top (holding on to conveniently added rails). Octopussy

Dusty Balz, SASS#46599
GREAT POST!!! "Fast and low is the way to go" BTW The The racing starts in Reno sept 13 to 18 at Stead air base. Mustangs, Sea Fury's, Bearcasts, Tigercats all racing at 500 mph 50 feet off the ground, a must of you like airplanes. The pilot that flew the Twin Beech through the billboard was the great Frank Talman, the movie company contracted a company to build a paper billboard for the stunt. This being the first contract the company got from the studio they wanted to do an extra good job and mad it "Extra Strong". Frank flew through the billboard and sustained structural damage to the aircraft almost making it un flyable. Because it was Talman, he was able to land safely and the Beech was tagged as grounded and never flew again. Sadly Talman crashed a few years later flying a Cessna 172 not far from his home in California while trying to scud run some storms.
