Prof. M. T. Jeroboam, SASS #27904 L
Howdy all, I am looking for a repro pith helmet of the late 19th c style seen in Zulu, on the Indian Frontier (Injah, not American Indians), etc., and was hoping there might be some folks with some advice. I see a few on the web, but I am concerned that they might not fit my 7 3/8-1/2 sized noggin (this seems to be the case with some of the Vietnam made ones, at least). I also see that International Military Antiques has some, too, that are repros (not sure if they are the same as the ones I am finding elsewhere). Anyone with personal experience of any of these? This going to be for fun wear, not for hard core accuracy of reenactment. thanks in advance-- Professor
Utah Bob #35998
Village Hat Shop has a pretty good reputation. I have not personally seen one of their foreign service helmets though. Also Squadron HQ has them but more expensive.
Badlands Beady
I bought my Wild Bunch leather from IMA; delivery was fast and the goods and price were just fine. I'd go with IMA, since it's for "fun" and I hate the idea of beating up an original. You can always return it.
