Take your pics with your digital camera. Download them onto your computer. Go to Photobucket, download the pics from your 'puter to your Photobucket album.

When you want to put the pics on the Wire, open a window to Photobucket and open a window to the SASS Wire. That way it's easy to switch back and forth. If you want to show the whole album of pics, open the Photobucket window, look to the right side of the page, you will have to option to open a link to show the album. Click on that, it will copy the link. Then, open the Wire window and start a new topic. When the message box appears where you can type stuff in, look to the right of the yellow smiley face, it says "insert link", click that, when the box appears, where it says "URL" , backspace to get rid of the "http" that's there, then right click your mouse, and hit paste. It will put in the link to the Photobucket pics. If you want to put a title to your link, type that in where it says "link text". Click "Add Reply" at the bottom of the page and you're done. Easy Peasy!

link just takes me to the photobucket sign in screen, you may have to mark the album as public

sorry, don't remember off the top of my head how to do that, album options or properties maybe.

You can't post pics directly into a post on the Wire... a feature that puts a copy of the pic on their servers... using a LOT of bytes. Therefore, the only way is to link to your pics.

Here's how I do it. open either another tab in your browser, or another instance; in that browser window, open you photobucket account and locate the picture you want to link to; then here is where you need to make a decision, do you want folks looking and having access to YOUR entire photobucket account, or just view that pic?

If it's the latter, then put your cursor on the link titled "Direct Link", copy that link, then moving back to the post you're making and using the "ctrl v" (hold down the Ctrl button and hit the "v" key), function will "paste" the link in your post, thusly:

http://i35.photobuck...93/IMG_0706.jpg

Or you can select the "Insert image" button on the post screen and IMG_0706.jpg do the same thing. The picture will appear, but won't be posted in the actual post that appears for others to read. Even in the preview screen it won't appear, just the server addr of your picture.

If you want to be fancy, you can type in a name for your picture as in: Proper alignment and depth for locking lug to lever pin on a mdl Winchester 1892 (shown without the pin retaining screw in place), an you do that by opening the dialog box labeled "Paste link" and pasting your link in the top place and your title in the lower.

Clear as mud, no?

Oh yeah, using the "direct link" will not allow others to have access to your entire album... theoretically, anyway.

OK, if you have a photobucket album with pictures uploaded you are most of the way there.

On the line with the album name is a think that says 'album options' with a little down carrot symbol, click on that wording. It will drop down a list of things, one of which is 'Privacy' this should be set to public, if not, click the 'edit' next to it and change it.

Now the little symbol next to the album name should show an unlocked padlock.

1) Now, if you want to share the album, look on the right side of the screen, it will have a box called 'share album, click on the info inside the little box next to 'direct link' it should turn a different color and say 'copied' and then go back to the address. Now skip to my step 3 below.

2) If you want to share a single picture, run your mouse over the picture in album view and it will pop up a list of things, click on the address in the box next to 'direct link' and it should copy the link for you.

3) In a post here on the SASS wire, clock on the 'insert link' icon in the tool bar across the top, it is just to the right of the smiley face icon. Position the mouse pointer in the URL box and press the RIGHT mouse button, and choose paste, the address will be pasted there. Change the 'link text' to whatever you want it to say, or leave it as 'my link'

hope that helps.

it will not allow you to paste where? What exactly happens when you try?

OK, try this, go to your photobucket album, copy the direct link as I explained above, come back here and in the body of the post paste the address, lets see what that looks like so we can pinpoint where things are going awry.

When on photobucket; left click direct link and it should popup copied, then all ya have to do is right click into your SASS replys.

OK, I got it now, I know what you are doing after looking at your last link....

The insert link box has the URL pre filled with HTTP:// and you are pasting in the link next to that. either back space to erase the HTTP:// or leave it highlighted (blue) so that your paste will replace it. That will work.
