HIGH CARD, SASS #17242
Howdy, For you Rem Roll Block experts. Am trying to reinstall the block in the rifle. Yes the hammer is in place and cocked. It is a No. 5 action. The block has the extractor on the left side. With the extractor off the block, I can push the block down against some spring tension enough to get the pin installed. When I have the extractor laying on the left side of the block, the spring tension(s) is too much for me to get the holes to align. Is there some trick, or something I am missing? What about the extractor retaining screw (not sure if this is the right term), that goes thru the left side of the receiver. I know it has a pin on the end that rides in a cut out on the extractor....? I appreciate any help...thanks. Regards, High Card
Adirondack Jack, SASS #53440
Are ya assembling it with the bottom tang on? Try it with the bottom tang (which has the mainspring) off.
HIGH CARD, SASS #17242
I figured it out. It was just a matter of having to pull the extractor back and up with a small pin/paperclip to get it out of the way, while pushing down and forward on the block until the block and receiver pin holes line up. Thanks for the help tho. Regards, High Card
