Dorado Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 So, While I cannot serve in the military my girlfriend is. She's in a Cavalry unit in the army. She's coming back soon and I got to thinking (I know Bad Idea). I'm going to go pick her up when she returns and I was thinking, How cool would it be to go dressed in a civil war Cavalry uniform? If nothing else it'd certainly make an interesting story for the papers. lol So, should I start looking for a uniform?

I would suggest a nice cavalry stetson or maybe a crossed saber t-shirt that says something like My Girlfriend is in the Cavalry. What unit is she in?
Dorado Posted July 31, 2011 Author Posted July 31, 2011 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, She's a muleskinner.

Subdeacon Joe Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 They ain't cheap. I would suggest a nice cavalry stetson or maybe a crossed saber t-shirt that says something like My Girlfriend is in the Cavalry. What unit is she in? Or a shirt with "Brave Rifles!" maybe in yellow on federal blue. Alternative would be to find a reenactor who could kit you out for a day. Hmmm.....or get a shirt made with the units arms on it. Vert, on a cross Argent, a tower of the field; on a chief Or a bend Gules. http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil/Heraldry/ArmyDUISSICOA/ArmyHeraldryUnit.aspx?u=3008 ADDED: Or, just BE THERE. I doubt she will really notice or care what you wear.
Gunner Gatlin, SASS 10274L Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I say go for it....sincere appreciation and respect for her service pard GG ~
Dorado Posted July 31, 2011 Author Posted July 31, 2011 You make it sound better. I was thinking as a gag
Grizzly Dave Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Well, IMO, no. It would only detract from those returning from harms way, the focus should be on them, not you. I don't think that is your intent, but...
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172 Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I am sure that your attention and affection will overshadow what ever you might be wearing. Please convey a very grateful THANK YOU to her and any of the other troopers you happen to talk with.
Utah Bob #35998 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I am sure that your attention and affection will overshadow what ever you might be wearing. Unless yore wearing nothing ....but that would make it difficult to get past the MPs at the gate.
