Probably didn't help and they pretty much sided with the Canadian/Brits afterward. Course, I'd shoot anyone stealing my means of survival too. Undaunted Courage is a must read. They were the ones with the guns and made sure everybody else knew it. If I recall my history. Are they not the ones that extracted a toll on the tribes passing goods through their turf.
