Grizzly Dave Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 Well, the weekend was so great looks like I'll be taking at least part of tomorrow off. Wound up with a nasty painful rash on my lower leg. Probably just heat rash from my boots, but it ain't going away and is getting worse, best go get it checked out I reckon. Gotta like the online appointment systems though, don't have to wait til the morning to set something up.

So when it's hot and you're pouring water on yourself to help stay cool, maybe pour a bottle into each boot, too. AJ
Grizzly Dave Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 The problem is I have fat little stumps of legs, and my boots fit pretty close to my calves, and standing for 5 hours in the heat.... and being a hefty feller my ankles tend to swell a bit... Maybe I'll just cut off the upper part of the boots, what sticks out under my jeans will look like boots, but there won't be any upper part to bother my legs...

But if you do, your boots won't hold as much water, you know. So it's a trade off. AJ
Grizzly Dave Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 For anyone who cares, or is just following along because they are bored... Doc says it's a skin infection that may have started with heat rash or an allergic reaction to my shooting boots, and likely compounded by the fact that my ankles swell up when I'm on my feet a long time (like at a match.) Antibios, steroid creme, no boot wearing, etc etc. Yup, think I'll get those boots cut down to shoe height.

Grizzly Dave Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 But den dey won't be boots anymore. Well, I reckon so, but under the bottom of my jeans they'll look like it, and save my legs from any more rashes and infections. I reckon I ain't the first cowboy to cut down some boots that were causing him problems. And besides, I'd much rather cut the boots down than have continued problems and have them have to cut the leg down instead, then I'd have to change my alias to Stumpy Grizz or something. Sure am looking forward to this thing healing up, it hurts. Grizz
