how do I tell a 1873 cleaning rod is original?

How do you tell the difference between an original cleaning rod for a Winchester 1873 rifle and a modern replica?

Original 1873 Winchester cleaning rods were 4 piece, blued and tapered with brass end, later in early 1890s replaced with a steel. They make a good repro, but ageing should seperate the repro which can be blued to look as an original. Originals can be 200.00+upward. MT

I shyed away from sniffing after my school councelor told my parents to check me for cocaine use as my nose was broke and lop sided and so I sniffed a lot due to congestion. I still have never seen sniffing cocaine to this day, even after policing and finding pot, meth crack etc.

 

what would a real one smell like? Would a fake one smell like chinese food?

A fake one might smell like cold blue which smells distinctly like sulfur to my nose, even though it contains no sulphur to my knowledge. Either way cold blue stinks sometimes even even years after application and repeated oiling.

A real one would smell...old.
