Seling your stuff.

Recommended Posts

Bottles, I need a drink whilst I mull this over.

Folks, ya ever go through the dilema of selling something? I mean you know what ya paid for it, ya know ya ain't gonna get that back (nor should you most times), and you are just lost for what is fair. So then ya get over to tha auction sites like Auction Arms and Gunbroker to see what they are gonig for. You see 20 of the same thing you are selling for about what you were thinking of asking and not nary a one has a bid on 'em. So, ya ponder and consider and maybe throw some stuff in with it that you don't use to make it a bit more atractive and still you are lost on whether your offering a deal, pricing too high, or cheating yer ownself.

Bottles! I need another one....

When I go to Gunbroker for comparative pricing, I search for some that have actually sold. If that fails I look at the ones for sale and see if I can find out how many times they have been offered and if the price is changing. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it's a waste of time.

When in doubt, work out a trade. That way, everyone walks away more or less happy (or at least equally screwed). ^_^

I have the " Gun Buyers And Sellers BlueBook."

I offer what the bluebook list...maybe a little higher if I want that gun.

If I am out bid, let that other sucker have it.

If I am selling, which is rare, I asked what the bluebook lists it for.

An example of selling a firearm.

I listed a K98 along with an original sling (these alone sell for over 100.00 to 150.00). All matching except floor plate. Stock had Luftwaffe approval markings on it. Bore almost excellent. Not using any price guide books, etc. I bought this 98 in 1972 for 78.00, sling was 15.00. I offered this for 380.00, 35.00 shipping for 4 weeks on a military website, which specialises in WW2 german items. I received 1 offer for 350.00, I ship, no thanks. I put this same K98 on GunBroker and sold it for 929.00.

I offered for sale twice on our classified, (some may remember) 2 different times Broomhandles, one at 750.00 the other at 950.00. No takers, but the 950.00 sold on Gunbroker for 1600.00, it was a Red 9. I forgot what I got for the other, but more then my asking.

When selling, I try to be fair and watch going prices. Very rarely do I see Blue Book asking, thats what auction are for. Put down the least amount you will take(short of a give-a-way), and let it go from there.

I have .22s, shotguns, pistols which I am contemplating selling, but will no longer list on our classified, but take my chances on GunBrokers. I hate the hassle, but never failed to sell less then my lowest asking. It works 2 ways, I bought a AR15 for under a 1000.00, and sold a M1A for 956.00 last month. I got my lowest, and bought at sellers lowest asking. MT

Whats is amazing is that I've offered firearms for sale here, didn't sell. Went on GunBroker and sold for more. I just hate the hassle of auctioning them, all the dumb questions sometimes asked.

Crazy people bid on Gunbroker. Cap & Ball pistols sell there for more than what I could buy it for new from Cabellas.

Your right. But i seems as if auction can create a frenzy to keep the other guy from getting something. I offered here several weeks ago my collection of Hartlands at a very reasonable price, I don't even want to say what the amount of the check was I received Tuesday from auction house on realized price for the collection. Way more then I ever expected, even above value, plus buyer had to pay a premiun on final bid. MT
