Have some very good and complete reference books on original 1911 & 1911A1's of all manufactures. I have never come across a 1911A3 ( or A2 ). Marshal Dan Troop 70448 Posted June 30, 2011 Share Posted June 30, 2011 Several decades ago, before it was a problem with ATF. A 1911 was re-configured into a selective fire. I understand about a handfull of these exist, and the person that did this desginated them as A3s. A shoulder stock was attached, and the selector switch could be single, or burst fire select.
