That's a pretty amazing deal!

 

He thinks of his dad having fought in the Civil War in the same way I think of mine in Vietnam.

 

It's a blessing to our country that folks like this are still around to tell as close to first hand accounts as possible.

My pleasure, EE. Being able to pass stuff like this on to people who can and will appreciate it is a blessing.

 

Put it in context of the history of our Republic. We have the living son of a Civil War vet, apparently one of about 20. There is a very good chance that those men who fought in that War knew a few vets of the Revolution. Three (long) lifetime to span our history. We are very, very young as a nation.
