Utah Bob #35998
Will any type 32 S & W work(FMJ only etc)? It will shoot 32 S&W Longs, Shorts and, I've heard, 32 H&R magnums. I've never tried the Magnum. I don't think it would be a good idea. You'll get blowback and possibly bulged cases with the S%W 32. The amount of bulge seems to depend on the individual gun. There are also .32 acp conversion cylindersmade that make it easier. Lee makes a die that will let you make 7.62x25 nagant out of 32-20 cases. Nagant discussion I sold my Nagant a few years ago. Glad they're back in stock. I need to pick up another one.

Glad they're back in stock. I need to pick up another one. Bulged cases with the 32 H&R Magnums is likely, but i would not expect blowback to be much of an issue. One of the most inovative features of the Nagant is that when you cock the hammer (or pull the trigger in umpteen pound double action mode), the cylinder advances and actually moves forward, so the chamber with the round in it is touching the barrel, eliminating the usual revolver gap between cylinder and barrel. Buckshot Frank
They made single action Nagants too, but they are hard to find. If you could find a pair, you could get some style points shooting them in a SASS match .

This die set is intended to make shootable ammunition for these revolvers. This die set will not make ammunition that is a duplicate of original ammunition. is what it says... How the devil would you make duplicates of the proper ammo or even reload it? Would some sort of necking die after bullet seating do it?

Would some sort of necking die after bullet seating do it? I think the simplest way is just to buy some Fiocchi or Privi boxer primed ammo and reload it. Never tried it though. 4D makes a Nagant die. Buffalo Arms used to carry them. I've also heard that a 30cal carbine die will work. It's generally not a gun that you're going to shoot hundreds of rounds through. Just for fun now and then. If you were using it in competition the ammo costs might be a concern.
Trigger Mike
since the Nagant is so cheap, I bought 1 for each child a while back. I use it as a tool to teach them safety. The Nagant is easy for them to confirm it is empty. When they go to start shooting it they will need cheaper ammo so I will order some 32 S & W. Anyway, are they known to be durable and reliable? Curious...seems to be a trait with the Ruskies - some things work great...some things work not-so-great.
