CZ pistol at local gun store

I saw a Czech pistol at a gun store today. It was an older military model. It was 7.65 caliber. I looked at it and the guy said the reason they still have it is because it is hard to get ammo for it. It looked like a Czech border guard pistol. I tolod him I thought 7.65 is 32 auto. he kept saying no that it is some weird caliber and hard to get. I told him I once owned one and paid $65 when the wall came down and brought it home from Germany and sold it for 250, and now he wants 200 for the same gun, he repeated it is a weird caliber and hard to find. I recall shooting 32 auto out of mine and still have some of the ammo left. tell me I was wrong.

here is a link of what it was

I know little about the CZ 70's, but a lot of the soviet bloc pistols were 9x18's and 7.62x25's. Hope that helps.

I don't think the guy at the gun store knows what he is talking about.

CZ has made a number of guns in "military" calibers, but they were all the common calibers of the 20th century:

6.35mm/.25 auto, 7.65/.32 auto, 9x17/.380, 9x18/9mm Makarov and 7.62x25 Tokerev. All are relatively easy to find, either at better stocked gunstores or online: http://www.grafs.com & http://www.midwayusa.com are both good sources for ammo.

As an aside I have the CZ-52, which is chambered in 7.62x25 and resembles the CZ-70 in your picture and it is a lot of fun. The 7.62x25 sends a 85gr bullet at about 1500fps. Some of the 7.62x25 surplus ammo out there is of questionable quality though.

I've been planning on buying a CZ-52 for years now. Unfortunately, I didn't buy one when they were dirt cheap from every surplus importer. The CZ-52 uses a roller locking system similar to the HK G3 and MP5. Cool round too. I've read where somebody was loading sabotted .223 rounds into the 7.62 X 25 and getting some incredible velocities out of a handgun. Looked like fun!

Trigger Mike, I was stationed in Berlin when the wall came down, lived on Theilplatz just down the road from the O club. We were getting offered CZ 75's for $50. One guy that worked with my Dad bragged a little to loudly he bought an AK off a Soviet soldier for $75. Those guys were selling everything. There was an article in the Stars and Stripes of a german that got a visit from the Polizei, when they searched the appartment they found a bunch of mortar rounds stacked in the corner.

A 7.65 CZ 70 will in fact shoot 32acp ammo.

naw it wernt that one, I had one of those once to. I just could not understand why even though I told the guy I owned what he was selling once and shot 32 auto out of it that he would not believe me and kept telling me it was some weird caliber. I may go back, offer a lot less and see if they take it.
