Marshal Dan Troop 70448
History channel, which when it first came on was a must, and most often viewed media in our household. Then along came commercialism reality shows, Ice Road Trucker, and etc. They were enjoyable, but not History. Lately very little History is left in History Channel, but re-runs could be classified I guess as "past history". But of all the gall of "History Channel" to show re-runs of Pawn Star on Memorial Day, instead of true historical shows, is making me re-think about this channel and possible just having it dropped from my list. I would have thought, History Channel would be on top of Memorial Day tributes. At least many other channels are showing some great movies, including TMC. Cypress Sun
Yep, the (supposed) History Channel has gone downhill in the last few years. There is always The Military channels and AMC is running Memorial Day themed movies. How on earth is 2 guys searching through junk and then paying 1/2 what it is worth or a pawn shop paying a 1/4 of what something is worth history? IMO reality tv sucks. I'll be watching racing all day today anyway, just need to learn how to pronounce some of the names in the Indy 500.
Badger Mountain Charlie SASS #43172
Some of the stuff has moved over to History International, which is one of the higher channels on cable. Most of the stuff that they are showing is WW I and WW II film. The movie channels are showing some stuff but most of it is pure hollywood. The Band of Brothers and Longest Day type movies are few and far between. To get on my soap box, I think I can better remember the fallen by going out of my home and partaking of the Memorial services that are going on. A trip to the cemetery to honor the fallen might be in order. Or if nothing else, just spend a few minutes in quiet reflection on what they have done for the rest of us. Please fly the flag if you have one. May God bless them, and you and May God bless America.
