Presidio Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 And they're still listening to this nut!?!?!?!? ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — California preacher Harold Camping says his prophecy that the world would end was off by five months because Judgment Day actually will come on October 21. The independent Christian radio host said Monday the apocalypse will come five months after May 21, the original date he predicted. Camping says he felt so terrible when his doomsday prediction did not come true on Saturday that he left home and took refuge in a motel with his wife. Camping, an 89-year-old retired civil engineer, appeared publically for the first Monday night. Rather than give his normal daily broadcast, Camping made a special statement before the press at the Oakland headquarters of the media empire that has broadcast his message. Quote

OK Birdgun, you started it. Mark 13:32 But of that day and [that] hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Seems pretty clear to me: Ain't nobody knows when. If they say they do, they're a LIAR. Take it to the bank. Waimea Edited May 24, 2011 by Waimea Quote

Oh for Goodness Sake, as I'd say. "Crimanee-Antley," as my mom would say. "Land o' Goshen," as my grandma would say. You mean we gotta go through all that again? This end-of-the-world stuff is going to wear out my lawn mower. You know, I stop mowing the yard every time the world is going to come to an end. Because, like, why? So then it's two feet tall after we're still here, and I gotta work the mower through it, slipping the clutch in first gear because I have to go so slow. I'd like to make a motion that all the end-of-the-world guys get together and form a union, work out a date that is good for all of them. It'd be a lot easier on my mower. Otherwise, I'll have to get a goat. Aunt Jen Quote

Long Branch Louie Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 He said some baloney about the "spiritual rapture" took place Sat. and the real one will be in October. So I guess there's a bunch of folks walking around with no spirit right now. Wish I was smart enough to get people to send me millions of dollars.... Quote

S. Quentin Quale, Esq. SASS 9953 Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Well, according to one report I saw, the boy managed to garner $18 Million in donations. I wonder if he'll send the money back in October when that doesn't happen? In alternative, at least he got his retirement fund nicely set up. I hope he lives out his days happlily 'cause I suspect that St. Peter is going to have real bad news for him when he checks in at the Pearly Gates. Maybe Ron White is a Prophet For Our Time when he observes, "You can't fix stupid." SQQ Quote

Subdeacon Joe Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 The real irony is that all the people who make predictions like this insist that they believe the Bible is the exact, literal, true Word of God. Yet they ignore things like the quotes above, and the passabges that warn against personal interpretation of Scripture. Yet they (claim to) follow the Bible exactly. Quote
