Which five of the nine Jen? :)

We (I) kinda count Lonesome Dove, Wild Bunch, and The Professions and they are missing from the list as are many others. But then everyone has their own favorites.

TERROR OF TINY TOWN

TF

Never heard of that one. Looked it up on imdb.com. Found this description.

An evil gunslinging midget comes to terrorize the good little people of Tiny Town. The townspeople organize to defeat him, and zany antics ensue.

True.

Sometimes my humor breaks through. I have a long history of teasing people, which I mostly keep in check around here as I don't know most of you. I slipped it in there for fun. Sometimes I get a snappy comeback, but it works best if the people know me better. Then, when I say something, dry, as if real, and they know I know better, they know I'm kidding...

Made in 1939, all the midgets, dwarfs, little people were in town to make The Wizard of Oz, and thought to make a Western.

You should look at it, using Shetland Ponies and the costumes was great fun to watch. Just sayin'

If you were here more often then you would know us better....and we you.

Simple fix. Stay here. Post more.

And no, you cannot make lists better with white wine. The only acceptable cowboy list beverges are beer, bourbon, and rye. Red wine is acceptable for ladies. ;)

In no particular order, The Searchers, Once Upon A Time In The West, Conagher, Unforgiven, and Stagecoach.

Quigley, Lonesome Dove, The Cowboys, Tombstone, and The Outlaw Josey Wales would be my second tier, again in no particular order.

Everytime a survey comes like this, with a limited number. Be it 5, 10, or 20, seems they always go beyond the stated limits. I don't blame them, its hard to limit westerns.

I would like to add 3 westerns that were my favorite to see when I was younger, since you got to see many western "B" stars in the same picture on 2 of them. What more could one ask for?

Roy Rogers Bells of Rosarita and Trails of Robin Hood filled with great western stars besides Roy.

Also Roy Rogers last film, a classic, especially when he's on the bronc, and the song part, "look at him now, broken down cowboy, onetime he was King of the Cowboys---", Macintosh and TJ. Surprise this film isn't seen today. MT

Here are a couple noteworthy westerns:

The Gunfighter (Gregory Peck)- The first grown-up western.

High Noon- If Hitchcock ever made a western, this would be it.

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence- John Wayne as an anti-hero.

Fistfull of Dollars- Introduction of the spagetti western to US audience.

Then of course I have to throw in all of the usually favorites: Tombstone, The Unforgiven, Outlaw Josey Wales, etc.

Really it's hard to put down just five movies when there it should be your top 50 that would be a little easier. Just saying!

There is no way I could limit myself to five favorites, nor could I put them in order. What I will try to do is list my ten "Desert Island" favorites. You know, I'm stranded on an island, but I just happen to have electricity, a DVD player and a TV...

Eldorado

Big Jake

Shane

High Noon

The Sacketts

Tombstone

Silverado

Quigley Down Under

The Outlaw Josey Wales

Blazing Saddles

If we add TV series to that I can probably do five:

The Wild Wild West

High Chaparral

Have Gun, Will Travel

Bonanza

Gunsmoke

(I figure between Bonanza and Gunsmoke I should be able to watch until I'm rescued or blind with old age.)

Edit: Ahh crud, I forgot about The Magnificent Seven
