Tonto Rim Smokeout; Az State Blackpowder Championships

Just got home from one of the toughest matches I have been to in some time. I am still recovering. What shoot was this you may ask? It 's called the Tonto Rim Smokeout; Az. State Blackpowder Championships.

It is held in the high country of Payson, Az. We had to contend with temperatures in the high 70's during the day and the 60's at night. We had breezes that blew the black powder smoke away from the shooter and sunny skies throughout. Can you even began to imagine shooting under such conditions?

The props were artfully done and the stages were challenging. The posse's had cheerful, helpful shooters and the pace was steady and smooth. It was like shooting in the Twilight Zone.

On Friday night we had an Italian cook-off and everyone present was forced to eat Great Italian food and then vote for their favorite dish. Saturday night was a steak barbeque with all the trimmings and ice cream cakes for dessert. The Tonto Rim Marauders Shooting Club are downright merciless.

All kidding aside, this match was a BLAST!! It was well run and everything was geared to make it a great shooting experience. Fun and Good Times were the goal for the week-end.

This match is geared for both Blackpowder and Smokeless shooters. There was a Wild Bunch Match on Sunday as well as Long Range and Plainsman on Thursday. If you have never been to this shoot, put it on your calendar for next year. You will not be disappointed.

The Tonto Rim Marauders are to be congratulated on another EXCELLENT match.
