I sometimes wonder

Recommended Posts

As a former Army guy, I sometimes wonder why the Seals get all the fun? Was Osama's hot tub too big for the Special Forces?

SEALS don't get all the fun.

Trust me on this. ;)

Actually a direct action mission like this is what the SEALS and Rangers do very well.

Special Forces, while they have been used in the past for such door kicking missions, are employed differently. Direct Action operations are a small part of the overall Special Forces mission. The SF mission is a little more involved and includes Foreign Internal Defense, Unconventional Warfare, Special Reconnaissance, Counter Terrorism,Psychological Operations, Coalition Warfare/Support, and Civil Affairs. Rambo wouldn't be able to handle it. ;)

Kudos to Seal team 6. They done good! :FlagAm:

In my time, the Special Forces were to be used as insurgent training cadre, not as a fighting force.

Insurgents or counter insurgents. And the mission was to train and fight with them, e.g. the Montagnard tribes in SE Asia.. They don't have much respect for you otherwise.

We were trained to fight very well. ;)

Dunkless un Helles! Put on 15 pounds I did,

Easy to do. I tried to put it on, and Sgt. Buxton kept trying to take it off.

I did get to know the running trail along the DZ at Gablingen, richt well.

Humping our crappy M-1943 rucksacks over the alps wearing skis and snow shoes just gave me a whopping big appetite for beer and sausages.

I still only weighed in at 150 though.
