Sawbuck
I have a Winchester 97 for my shootgun. When I charge the gun after firing it ,kind of locks. So I have to push forward on the grip, then pull it down to discharge the shell. The gun is bone stock. Is this something I can fix ? Or should I take it to a gun smith? Works perfect assuming you are using dummies,
Dang It Dan 13202
It's suppose to do that. It will unlock under recoil. There are some that will over-ride that feature because they say it's faster. I have been shooting one with the factory locks for about 13 years and even thought I am not the fastest guy in the sport I can get four shots off under four seconds fairly regularly. There is a lot of smoothing out you can do on a 97, but I wouldn't mess with the safety features.
