Isom Dart, SASS#8096 Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Howdy Sam, I use the 38-40 bullet from Dash Caliber. It's a 180gr. big-lube bullet, works great in my '73's, Colts and Rugers. I can run all day with those bullets. dashcaliber@yahoo.com , 678-787-2350. Give Tex a call, he's good people to deal with. Isom Dart

Marshal TKD, Sass # 36984L Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Using a 180 RNFP for rifle. I lucked into a bunch (4000 @ $10 per 500)of 155 grain 40 cal bullets. So I use those for my pistols.
Three Foot Johnson Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 I've used several, but the best one (for me anyway) turned out to be NEI's mould #401-195-WCF.
Clyde Henry 7046 Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Howdy all, What bullet do you use for BP 38-40 WCF? Got a Marlin to feed. Thanks, Sam I use the RCBS 38/40 and BigLube moulds. Both bullets work well.

Muddy Creek Sam, SASS# 78004 Posted April 16, 2011 Author Posted April 16, 2011 Sam, how far do you plan to shoot your 38-40? Answer is important respective to the bullet selection JB, It is a short rifle so probablyh no long range plans. Bought it to use as a wild bunch rifle. Would like for it to be reliable out past 100 yds. Thanks, Sam
Jailhouse Jim, SASS #13104 Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Laser Cast or Missouri Bullets, 180 grain flat nose over a full charge of FFG 777 makes for a great, consistant round. No special BP bullet needed with T7. If you want a traditional BP round, the Big Lube is the best choice. You already know who to get those from. JJ-D
Boothill Bandit, SASS# 48598 Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 There's also Deperado Cowboy Bulletsand Badman Bullets. Boothill
John Boy Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Would like for it to be reliable out past 100 yds. Sam, then you'll be OK with the big lube bullet, if that's your desire. If you get an itch for 200 out to 500, I've had excellent groups (MOA) to 300yds and the turkeys and rams fall over out to 500 meters. The bullet is the remake of the Ideal 375166
