Attaching photos from your computer?

Recommended Posts

I looked at the help file on the top of the SASS wire forum next to where you sign in. It talks about attaching a file from your computer, where is the attach file button when creating a new post. I have looked and the only thing I can fine directs you to at http: location.

Thanks,

TB

You cannot actually attach a file to a post on the board. You can only link to it.

That means that the file must already be posted somewhere on the internet. Then, in your post you can post the link to that file.

That greatly save space and bandwidth for the SASS wire. Generally web site providers charge for both bandwidth (amount of information download or uploaded to a site) and disk space.

So for example, here is a link to a picture on the website about the Georgia State match:

http://www.rbgc.org/Cowboy/RRtrio.jpg

And another:

http://www.gacowboy.com/images/RiverBend%20R.jpg

Notice that neither picture actually shows up on the SASS Wire, you have to click on the link to open the picture on the original site.

There is an option with youtube videos to "embed" the file so that it "appears" to be attached, while it is actually coming from Youtube. That is why you can "see" a still of the video on the board. And when you click on it, the video is similarly "embedded" but is never really on the SASS website at all.

Hope that helps.

You can attach a pic for your avatar but that's all. You cannot attach images to a post. That function has been disabled due to the amount of bandwidth it takes if hundreds of folks start putting pics in their posts. The only thing you can do is put a link to a photo that is already posted on the Web.

I was typing slowly while Marauder was posting.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought even though the help instructions don't make it clear. Is there a way to change the http: label so the name of the picture shows up like on the old wire?

Yes, First, copy the link you want.

Then click on the symbol for a link - like a chain link:

Link Symbol

It will open up a little box, the top of which is where you enter (paste) the link. The bottom is the label or Text area where you can enter anything your little heart desires, well, almost. :D
