That;s great. Never been to a VA hospital myself but I've heard lots of horror stories. Glad your experience was a good one.

Always glad to hear of a good VA experience. I've worked at the Louisville VA and love it. I feel our care is equal to or surpasses most of the other bigger hospital groups in the area. I also feel a bond with most of my patients because I am also a vet.

If you're ever in the area look me up. You probably would prefer I not be your nurse though... I work in Hospice.

Good to hear you had a good experience.

Mingo Frank, my hat is off to you. That work takes a special type of person.

Wade Park up in Cleveland is a good one, too. They've done right well with my SIL. It's been expanded big time in the last couple years. I believe the Breksville unit is going to close down and move into the expanded Wade Park buildings this summer....Buck

I have service connected dissability and I will tell you over the past few years I have NEVER been treated so well through the VA system. Cannot give enough praise for my doctor in Sedalia, Missouri, and when treated at Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. The treatment and folks have been just great! Now my wife is also a veteran, RN during Vietnam. She also worked for VA back in the 70's, but only lasted 9 months because of such poor treatment given to the especially combat wounded veterans. I really hope the treatment keeps this way. If my doctor says I need a test or treatment, I will get it, no questions asked. :FlagAm:

I can sure recommend the one in Loma Linda. They've always treated me right. Local clinic in Rancho Cucamonga is a keeper, too.

The VA Hospital in Madison Wisconsin is also outstanding. Fortuitously, it is attached to the University of Wisconsin Hospital. Close to half the time I see UW Hospital specialists. It is a great asset and truly appreciated by me. I could go to any doctor I wanted to through Medicare and Tricare but choose to doctor at the VA.

I get very good care and excellent treatment at the Huntsville, AL Clinic and at the Birmingham, AL Hospital. Things have really changed since I first went there in 1975.

Dad spent 13 Months in Stalag 17B. Had lung surgery at the Phoenix VA in 1970 at thanksgiving time. Received great care at the VA over the next 22 years until he died at home.

Being an X POW could have had something to do about it. In 97 when my wifes brother and father both Died from cancer about 2 months apart they got great care. Unfortunately the kidney cancer was too far along to be operable when discovered in the brother. His private medical insurance kinda dragged their feet so we moved to the VA system. Care great outcome not so good but was as expected.

I can receive services there as I recently got 100% so get full care. Will probably continue to use Tri Care unless something really bad just because I have it and will leave more slots for the Vets that really need the VA care.

I worked at the big fancy non-VA hospital across town. It was awful. VERY under staffed. I worked as hard as I could but after 7 yrs I was burned out.

Then I went to work at the VA. I have been there ten yrs now and I still like it.

I know a lot of doctors who love working for the VA. They don't make quite as much money, but they spend the time they need with their patients. The most common complaint I hear from non-VA doctors is the insurance companies don't give them the time they need to actually think and treat. Patient records follow Vets around from VA to VA mostly without a hitch.

I go to the Thomas E. Creek VA hosp. in Amarillo Texas. It's a GREAT hosp., and Iam treated the best I have ever been treated in any medical facility! I can not praise this hosp. enough. I never waited longer than 20 to 30 minutes to be seen except when my doctor had a med. emergency with a patient. Every employee is super helpful. My sincere thanks to everyone at Thomas E. Creek VA hosp.

Yes, a lot of Veterans and especially Vietnam era Veterans were treated very badly by VA Hospitals back in the 70's. I have witnessed a great change in attitude and care over the last 4 decades. Been going to Loma Linda since 73, which back then Loma Linda was a sad state of affairs, but now 38 years later is Top Notch in my book.

Amen Roy! When the clinic opened in Sedalia Missouri my first visit with my new doctor lasted 1 hour 15 minutes. Ain't never spent that kind of time with a doctor. Of course he made me have my first colonostophy, I'm beyond 50. He also had me see the cardiologist, which I had not seen since the by-pass 8 years ago. Oh well, got caught  Wife loved it
